Yesterday, I went to a friend’s birthday party, and I met this girl who is also having a hard time to adapt herself of using contact lenses. She told me about how difficult it is to take off the lenses for the first time.

So, I figured out that it is not just me that had a really painful experience in the first time…

I worked this little tutorial of “how to take off lenses” for all of you that are thinking of using contact lenses someday.

A day at the library

Today I decided to prepare my favorite type of sandwich for lunch, since I was going to spend the entire day at the library.

One of the sandwiches was with egg, mayonnaise and tomato and the other; tuna, mayonnaise, cucumber and Rocket salad.

I like this combination so much that couldn’t stop thinking about it all morning.

My 2nd car accident

When I was 14 years old, I insisted to my father that I'm old enough to learn how to drive.

We went to our small village aerport parking lot to practice. He put the car in a corner, in order for me not to worry about turnings and curves.

The problem was that the parking lot was elevated from the surroundings, and I still had problems to differenciate the first and reverse gear, and also to coordinate my foot between the break and gas pedals while panicking.

After this first lesson, my older brother was put in charge...

Khal Drogo dragon tatoo

Once, a very dear friend of mine asked me to draw a tatoo to put on his back.

The drawing was to be a dragon, with a range of symbologies he explained me in detail.

It had to cover his entire back to mean protection. It had to hold in one hand his soul, and I had to include the first letter of his name, a sword of a guardian saint (who's name I don't remember), an open infinite sign, and so on.

With a big piece of paper on his back, I drew in situ the tatoo, according to his instructions. After finishing the scketch, I took a photo and vectorized it in Adobe Illustrator. You can see it here

This story came to my mind because I watched, during these last hollidays, the first season of Game of Thrones, and loved it.

Since he never actually made the tatoo, I decided to draw him with the tatoo, in Khal Drogo style, in order to see how it would look like.

Sunny sunday

Today I enjoyed until the last drop of sunlight at home, with my favorite newspaper....

It is a pity there are no good news so far, to complete a perfect and sunny autumn sunday

My 1st car accident

When I was 8 years old, a friend of my father left his car in our garage.

My friend, who's father was a truck driver, told me he knew how to drive.

We secretly took the car keys, and my friend showed me how he could drive the car back and forward.

I couldn't admit that he, which is a year younger than me, could do something I can't, so I also tryed to drive it.

But, pushing down the gearstick to reverse was too much of an effort for my little hands...

After hitting the car bumper against the garage wall, me and my friend spent a good couple of hours trying to put it back, and hide the scratches.

My father never knew.

Papercut

Yesterday, I cut the back of my finger with a paper in a very stupid way.

It is a part of my hand that I'm not much aware of, basically because nothing happens there.

But since yesterday, I have been hitting it in every corner I found, opening my cut again and again (T_T)

Risotto Nero di calamari

Yesterday I ate a typical mediterranean dish, the "arroz negro" (black rice) in spanish or "risotto nero" in italian.

It is a risotto with squid ink in it, which make it super black.

Maybe because the squid ink is no digestible for humans, the very next day you see how the toilet paper come out with some shuuji on it.

Holidays in Barcelona

I'm having a two days holidays for the Constitution Day of Spain, and this is the way I'm intending to celebrate it.

chocolate chunk cookies

For days now, I have this crave for chocolate chunk cookies. Not the crumbly ones, but the ones with a chewy inside and crisp edge.

For some reason, I can't find this kind of cookie here, so I decided to try by myself one recipie I found here.

The problem started when my manual blender went wild and spread the dough all over my kitchen.

And when the individual cookies decided by themselves to fuse into a giant monster flat cookie in the oven, I realize that probably I would not have the cookies I was craving for.

The good thing is that, after I spent almost a couple of hours feeling this buttery oversweet smell of burning dough, and had to clean the entire kitchen afterwards, I don't want to see any cookie for a while.

The asian late aging secret

I'm going to reveal here the big secret of the asians, of how we can delay the signs of aging.

Actually it is a secret that pass from generations of granmas, mothers, daughters and TV shows, and it is not supposed to be shown to western eyes.

So you know, I'm risking my neck here with some furious ninja granmas, to provide you this piece of ancient wisdom.

Barachan

Today a very close friend from Hungary came to visit me.

When I was doing a postgrade back in Japan, she gave me this little cute baby seal cudly toy, wich I keep with me until today.

I named it after her (Barbara), wich in japanese would sound Barabara.

The "chan" in japanese names means "little" like, little Bara.

How to make chocolate in case of a zombie apocalypse

From "The toaster project", in which Thomas Thwaites proposed himself to build a toaster (an everyday object) from scratch, I started to think a lot about all the technological advances that would be lost if a catastrophe would shatter humanity.

So here I begin my contribution to save something of human culture.

If the zombie apocalypse has caught you near a cocoa plantation with this post in hand, and you felt a sudden crave to eat chocolate, you’ll know what to do to make yourself this essential item of modern culture.

I have not yet discovered how to separate the cocoa butter from the cocoa itself... but hey, Google is expected to survive.

Cómo hacer chocolate en caso de un apocalipse zombie

A partir del "The toaster project", en el que Thomas Thwaites se propone a construir una tostadora (un objeto cotidiano de lo más banal) desde zero, empezé a pensar muchísimo en todos los avances tecnológicos que se perderían en caso de una catástrofe que destrozara la humanidad.

Así que desde aquí empiezo mi colaboración para salvar algo de la cultura humana.

Si el apocalipse zombie os ha pillado cerca de una plantación de cacao, con este artículo a mano, y con unas ganas locas de comer chocolate, ya sabréis lo que hay que hacer para elaborar este artículo esencial de la cultura moderna.

Sólo no he descubierto todavía como se separa la manteca de cacao del cacao...pero bueno, se espera que google sobreviva.

Como anda el patio

Hoy he visto un artículo, basado en un anuncio para arquitectos que me hizo mucha gracia a principio, pero luego me dejó deprimido.

Corto y pego el anuncio:

studio de arquitectura de prestigio internacional busca arquitecto para llevar la dirección del equipo del estudio. La entrevista será llevada a cabo en inglés. Nunca me sentí tan devaluado como profesional.

Que una empresa de "prestigio internacional" ofrezca unas condiciones tan denigrantes para un arquitecto que cumpla todos estos requisitos, dice mucho de como anda el mercado laboral español. Lo peor es constatar cómo este anuncio fue publicado en el Colegio de Arquitectos de Madrid, una organización que supuestamente debería mirar por los intereses de TODOS los arquitectos.

El anuncio ya fue cambiado, ahora ofrecen contrato indefinido y un sueldo algo más digno, pero aún así, dónde fue que el camino de la evolución social se ha truncado de esta manera, a punto de que un profesional que cumpla todos los requisitos de este anuncio, que no son pocos, tenga que tragar unas condiciones laborales del paleta de la obra.

La imagen que uso de fondo, es una inspiración genial que tuve un bonito dia con la idea de forrarme, vendiendo estampas de corte japones (utilizando mis orígenes como tirón).

Debo decir que casi tuve éxito, si no fuera que empezé a hacer otras cositas y la dejé aparcada en el cajón, junto con mi patente para un motor de movimiento perpetuo...que igual os enseñaré algún día.

...Y hay veces que después de forzar el dedo en el ojo por un tiempo inhumano, la lentilla decide dar la vuelta y pegarse a mi dedo.

Encontré una lente de contacto dura de hace 10 años en el fondo del cajón, que lo había guardado porque me molestaba mucho, después de utilizarlo un par de veces .

Como justo había perdido mis gafas, decidí intentar volver a probarlas. Después de ver en internet que era normal sentir una molestia al principio, estuve una semana con ellas, religiosamente añadiendo una hora a más puestas a cada día y limpiandolas a conciencia.

Resultó que casi me pierdo la córnea en este experimento, tenía la impresión de literalmente haber metido mis gafas en el ojo.

Así que fui a consultar un contactólogo, después de casi desmayar al oír lo que había hecho, me recomendó un par de lentillas blandas para probar, parece que ahora se puede llevarlas con hasta un cierto grado de astigmatismo.

Me impresionó muchísimo lo cómodo que eran, que las llevara sin al menos darme cuenta.

Ahora el problema que tengo es ponerlas y quitármelas.

Cada día es una lucha con estos trozitos de plástico.

Acabamos de volver de una cata de chocolates de Leonidas, una experiencia increíble.

16 tipos de pequeñas joyitas que se deshacen en la boca.

Empezamos con una amplia explicación del proceso del cacao y terminamos apreciando diferentes tipos de bombones y sus respectivos nombres de relleno; praliné (avellana con cacao), ganache (nata con cacao), etc.

Para mí fue especialmente interesante lo del proceso, ultimamente pienso mucho en toda la tecnología y trabajo que hay detrás de los productos que utilizamos en el día a día, imaginando que en caso de un apocalipse zombie, sólo para dar un ejemplo, cuántas de las cosas que tenemos como esenciales podríamos volver a producir.

Empezar, siempre tan dificil

Imagino que dar este primer paso es siempre lo más difícil, así que empiezo con una entrada tan banal como la nota que he dejado esta mañana en la mesa:

"he ido al mercado, compro bistec para la comida"
